2 Metro Lines To Operate At East Lake High-Tech Development Zone

Wuhan metro extension project to continue through to January 2019

Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone Administrative Commission and Wuhan Metro Group signed a contract on February 24 for the construction of the eastern section of Wuhan Metro Line 11. The two sides made it clear that the first phase of the Line 11 eastern section will be open to traffic in October of 2018, and the southern extension of Metro Line will be operational in January of 2019, before the 2019 Spring Festival holiday.

The first phase of the Line 11 eastern section begins from the Optics Valley Railway Station  (光谷火车站)and ends at Zuoling (左岭), encompassing 13 stations and spanning a total length of 19.8 kilometers. At present, the tunnel digging has been completed, rails paved, and electricity supplied, while the joint debugging process is ongoing.

The southern extension of Line extends from Optics Valley Square (光谷) to Fozuling (佛祖岭). It has a total length of 13.4 kilometers, with ten stations and a parking lot. The construction work of nine stations’ main structures has already been completed.
