China Announces 2017 Official holiday Calendar
China’s State Council has announced its official 2017 holiday calendar, even earlier than for 2015 and 2016, allowing for actual — GASP!– advance planning especially with Spring Festival/Chinese New Year in late January.
January 1: New Year’s Day- The year begins with a holiday on Sunday, but since Sunday is already a holiday, Monday, January 2 is also a day off, no make-up work day required.
January 27 – February 2: Chinese New year – AKA spring festival. A total of 7 days. Make up days are Sunday, January 22 and Saturday, February 4.
April 2 – April 4: Qing Ming Festival – Tomb Sweeping Festival. Make up day will be on Saturday April 1 (not an early April fools Joke).
May 1: Labor Day – No make up day necessary.
May 28 – May 30: Duan Wu Jie – AKA Dragon boat festival. Sunday May 27 will be a work day.
October 1: National Day – 8 days from October 1 – October 8 beginning and ending on a Sunday. This is because Mid-Autumn Festival falls within those 8 days so it wont be observed separately. Still September 30 is a work day thought.
These are your holidays your mission should you choose to accept it, is to make these worth while!
