So here we are again, the middle of year, the time when we all start to freak out about how quickly the year is going. When almost every conversation starts with ‘I cannot believe it’s June!’ When we start to realise that it’s been 6 short months since we swore that: we would eat healthily, as we sink our teeth into yet another delicious burger; we would drink less, while ordering a pint of ice cold IPA; we would exercise everyday, as we press play on the 13th episode of The Real Housewives for the day, while not being able to bring ourselves to look at our WeRun daily tally because we all know we’ve just walked to the bathroom and the front door to collect home delivered Maccas
. It’s that time of year where we recommit to our forgotten resolutions and a short 6 months before we recommit to them once again with a new found resolve and certainty that this year we’re going to do it! I’ve decided to be a rebel and forgo the annual midyear recommitment ceremony and instead, I’m going to give myself a break and enjoy Wuhan before the impending July furnace! That includes burgers, beers, reality tv, movies and popcorn and thankfully there are some GREAT films coming to Wuhan cinemas this month!
IMDB Rating: 4.9
Ok, so the rating isn’t great, but this movie stars Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren! How can it not be amazing?! It’s the story of a deep cover operative who wakes up only to find himself imprisoned in a CIA black site on a submarine. Sounds plausible right?
Starring: Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren and Patrick Kilpatrick.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
IMDB Rating: 8.2
This movie has Jeff Goldblum in it! That’s all you need to know right? Okay, I’ll tell you a bit more…it also has dinosaurs. The end.
Alright! I guess I should tell you about the movie. In another epic Jurassic installment we see Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs as the island’s dormant volcano roars to life! Also, Jeff Goldblum is in it.
Starring: Jeff Goldblum.
I find it incredible that it took an incredible 14 years for them to release a second installment of the Incredibles after the incredible success of 2004’s incredible movie The Incredibles. Incredibly the family haven’t aged a day as Jack-Jack is left in the care of his father (Mr Incredible) while Helen (Elastigirl – the incredulous feminist in me wonders why she’s not named Elastiwoman!?) is out saving the world. Incredible!
Starring: The incredible; Holly Hunter, Catherine Keener and Sophia Bush.
IMDB Rating: 7.8
This Italian film is classified as a comedy, drama, however it fills me with the kind of anxiety I feel when I’m about to watch a horror, psychological thriller! It’s takes place over a dinner party with seven long term friends (who I suspect will not be friends for long). They make (what I can only imagine will be) the regrettable decision to share the content of every text, email and phone call they receive with each other #drama!!! Whose idea was that!? It’s actually got fantastic reviews and the preview makes me want to rush out and watch it…I just might leave my phone at home next time I attend a dinner party #nothingtohide.
Starring: Guiseppe Battiston, Anna Foglietta, Marco Giallini and Edoardo Leo
