Lawson convenience stores enter Wuhan market

On May 26, three Lawson convenience stores opened at Bayi Road, Luoshi North Road, and Tuanjie Road respectively. They are chain stores opened as a joint venture by Zhongbai Holdings Group and Lawson Company; the latter is Japan’s second largest convenience store joint-stock company. In February of 2016, Zhongbai and Lawson signed an agreement, and Zhongbai became the franchisee of Lawson’s stores in Wuhan. This is the first venture for Lawson in the Central China market.

According to the 2016 Chinese Urban Convenience Store Development Index recently released by the China Chain Store & Franchise Association, Harbin, Wuhan, and Changsha are the top three fastest growing cities.
