This is a cosy narrow “bar–bistro-café-pub” with a lake view garden terrace – run by a Belgium called David. David is also one of the founders of the Aids charity which WOW supports. Located beside the North-West lake in Hankou it’s within walking distance from Novotel, Jin Jiang International and a short taxi ride from the Shangri-La, New-World, Ramada (Hankou) & Azia Hotels.

Brussels and Atomium have a regular loyal expat following and is renown for it’s range of beers and relaxed atmosphere. This is a good place where the mature adult/ couple/group wanting a quiet drink, some bar food and maybe a chat, can chill. Probably the closest thing to “your local” you’ll get in Hankou. The closest thing you will get to your local pub in China. The Atomium sells really good beers (mainly Belgian) at reasonable prices.

The food is simple but really good and high quality. The main reason to come the Atomium is for the atmosphere, all major sports events are shown live (when possible) on the many screens that they have. Expats, tourists and locals congregate here most nights, especially in the summer months when the lakefront setting is particularly attractive. The Atomium has a very warm and friendly atmosphere, one can sit indoors +/- on a small terrace overlooking the lake or outdoors alongside the lake itself. The real stars of the show are the staff, the lovely Milly, who greets every customer with a huge smile, her hardworking husband Jack, and David, the bearded Belgian biker/owner. All of them happy to help in any way they can, or just chat.

Every foreigner, resident or visitor, should check out Brussels; it’s the perfect place to make friends and find out what’s going on and where to go in Wuhan
