Wuhan's 1st elevated metro line

Two of the theme stations on Metro Line 8 and Line 21 (also called the Yangluo Line) were recently unveiled. Both lines will open for traffic at the end of the month. Huangpu Road Station is an interchange station for Line 8 and Line 1. It is close to the former site of the CPC New Fourth Army Headquarters in Hankou and the former site of the Wuhan Office of CPC Eighth Route Army, which helped create Wuhan’s history in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. The art wall in the station reflects scenes of Wuhan people’s resistance during WWII, reminding the Chinese people of that bitter part of history.

With a theme of “Happy Melody of Xinrong,” the design showcases the stop as a traffic hub. With gorgeous lighting effect, flowers seem to gradually open and close, giving the space a quiet and romantic atmosphere.

The first phase of Line 8 begins at Jintan Road Station in Hankou, runs under the Yangtze River, and ends at Liyuan Station in Wuchang. Line 21 spans 35 kilometers, linking Houhu Avenue Station in Jiang’an District and Jintai Station in Xinzhou District.
