Sean Scully’s works on tour exhibition in Wuhan

An exhibition entitled Sean Scully: Resistance and Persistence was inaugurated on January 10 at the Hubei Museum of Art.

Sean Scully (born 30 June 1945) is an Irish-born American-based painter and printmaker who has twice been named a Turner Prize nominee. His works have been exhibited in more than 150 leading museums or art institutions in the world, including China’s Museum of Central Academy of Fine Arts and the Himalayan Fine Arts Museum in Shanghai.

It is the second traveling exhibition of Sean Scully in China. Some 60 works have been chosen to be exhibited from April 2016 to March 2017 in Nanjing, Guangdong and Wuhan. “Just like the musical creations, my oil paintings are full of repetitive rhythms. The lines often resemble guitar strings or piano keyboards,” he said.
