Wuhan construction company to build Middle East’s first coal-fired power station

On December 14, China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, a subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) in Wuhan, declared that it has won a bid valuing 1.4 billion yuan for the civil engineering works of the first phase of the Hassyan coal power plant in Dubai, in partnership with the subsidiary of CSCEC in the Middle East.

The Hassyan coal-fired power plant is a key project of Dubai’s energy strategy and planning. It is also the first coal-fired plant in the Middle East. According to the contract, the construction work will last 60 months and is consisted of four 600 MW machine sets, the first of which will be operational in March 2020 to serve the Dubai World Fair.
